According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv with a barrage of "kamikaze" drones built in
Iran, killing at least one person.Andriy Yermak, head of the staff for Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelensky, remarked that it "shows their desperation."
According to the mayor of Mykolaiv, identical drones also
set fire to sunflower oil tanks there.
A week ago, the nation's capital was targeted by Russian
missiles during rush hour as part of widespread attacks that claimed 19 lives.
All of the drones, according to a Ukrainian air force
official, entered the nation from the south.
Three drones, according to Oleksandr Senkevich, set fire to
the tanks at Mykolaiv late on Sunday night, hours before the strike in Kyiv.
Drones were used in the strikes in Kyiv on Monday morning;
the low buzzing of these sluggish weapons is growing accustomed throughout the
nation.
Gunfire rattled around the city as anti-aircraft batteries
urgently attempted to shoot them down. One interception looked to be captured
on video posted on social media.
On Monday, the explosions started at 6:30 local time (03:30
GMT). The latest occurred at approximately 8:10 local time.
Two were near the city's center, and the entire region heard
sirens and automobile alarms.
President Zelensky remarked, "The adversary can target
our cities, but it won't be able to break us." He called the attacks
"terrorizing the civilian population."
It is difficult to tell what is being targeted. Residential
and non-residential buildings have been harmed, according to the mayor's
office. Authorities on the railways report seeing explosions close to Kyiv's
main station.
A Reuters reporter claimed to have seen drone parts with the
words "For Belgorod" on them that were used in the attack.
The Russian border city of Belgorod has been targeted by
missile attacks, according to the Kremlin. This was refuted by Ukraine.
At a Russian military training center in the Belgorod region
on Saturday, two shooters who had offered to fight in Ukraine killed 11 people.
The energy infrastructure of Ukraine has been a target of
recent attacks. It would be unexpected if it weren't the case once more.
Mr.
Klitschko claimed there were four attacks in Kyiv in a post on the social media
platform Telegram, however, locals reported hearing five to six explosions.
Moreover, he advised people to remain in air raid shelters.
But despite
the warnings, there are still plenty of people on the streets. There looked to
be a large number of people going about their Monday morning activities in
between the first and second wave of strikes.
The
kamikaze assaults, according to Mr. Yermak, are Russia's "death
throes," and Ukraine urgently needs stronger air defense systems.
