At the ongoing 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Margao, India, the Nigeria U-17 Women's squad, the Flamingos, were
defeated by Germany in their opening Group B game by a score of 2-1.In the early stages of the game, the females, under the leadership of Bankole Olowookere, bravely used their skills to play against the Europeans.
The Flamingos were given a free kick outside the penalty
area when captain Alvine Dah-Zossu was fouled by Emily Wallrabenstein. In the
half-hour, defender Miracle Usani successfully beat the goalkeeper with the
kick. Nevertheless, four minutes into the second half, Svea Stoldt penalized
the Flamingos for weak defense, and the Europeans evened the score.
