In Sokoto, bandits kill a security guard and kidnap a lawmaker's 18-year-old son.

 

Malam Bakwai, a vigilante official, was murdered by bandits in Rimawa village in Sokoto state's Goronyo Local Government Area.

Before kidnapping Mustapha, the

18-year-old son of Faruk Ahmadu Rimawa, a member of the Sokoto state House of Assembly who represents the Goronyo Constituency, the gunmen also shot and critically wounded Bello Rimawa.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, around 4 p.m., the attack took place, according to a Daily Trust article.Abdulwahab Goronyo, the Chairman of the local government area, who corroborated the occurrence, claimed that the bandits arrived on various motorbikes, each of which was hauling three armed guys.

"I was notified about the attack while I and the PDP state chairman were in Goronyo town offering condolences to a grieving family. I sent security personnel to the area as soon as I could, but the criminals fled without them.

The mother of the kidnapped teenage boy was reportedly in the village, but she managed to flee unharmed.

Faruk Ahmadu Rimawa, a legislator, claimed that the bandits had called last night but had made no demands.
