Over a strong chemical odor, an American Airlines airplane makes an emergency landing.

A powerful chemical smell compelled an American Airlines pilot to make an emergency landing, and nobody on

board knew what it was at the time.

According to TMZ, the crew thought a passenger's carry-on luggage was the source of the offensive chemical odor that plagued the aircraft from Miami to Barbados on Wednesday night.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units met the plane when it landed, and all 172 passengers were quickly escorted out while firefighters looked into what had happened.

Sources told the magazine that the smell came from a big bottle of industrial-strength nail polish. It breached TSA security and seeped into the traveler's bag. The woman is not in danger, though.

Due to considerable care, the airline stated that some of the crew members on board were feeling unwell as a result of the odor.
