Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a celebrated Nigerian author who was recently honored with Harvard
University's prestigious W.E.B. Du Bois Medal, has spoken out about missing
President Buhari's October 11 ceremony to bestow national honors.Omawumi Ogbe, a member of Chimamanda's communications team,
clarified the situation by telling The Guardian that the author turned down the
honor.
There have been conflicting reports about one of the named
honorees, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, since the President recently presented national
honors. Social media users disagree on whether the award-winning author
accepted or refused it.
The author was not present at the presentation because she
refused to receive the award. But she didn't want to draw unwarranted attention
to herself.
